                                        During the past thirty years of painting in the Hudson Valley, I have become keenly aware of the loss of nature & the diminishing American Landscape. Yet, I have also discovered hallowed grounds, those sacred areas respected & protected from population growth & the resulting developmental ruin. I am incredibly grateful to the many organizations & dedicated, insightful people preserving our landscape, particularly in the Hudson Valley.  - Marlene Wiedenbaum, PSA 2007

"Sacred Ground" is a growing collection of plein-air paintings scheduled for EXHIBITIONS in: June 2008 at the Pritzker Gallery in Highland; October 2008 at the Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining; April 2009 at the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, October 2009 at the Red Eft Gallery in Wurtsboro, September 2012 at the Palmer Gallery at Vassar College; 2019 at the Sam's Point Gallery, Minnewaska State Park Center, Cragsmoor, NY, and in May 2024 at The Mohonk Preserve Visitors Center in New Paltz, NY

In collaboration with preservation organizations, the project pays tribute to & supports land preservation & planned development while increasing the public's understanding of preservation.
