During the past twenty five years of painting in the Hudson Valley, I have become keenly aware of the loss of nature & the diminishing American Landscape. Yet, I have also discovered hallowed grounds, those sacred areas respected & protected from population growth & the resulting developmental ruin. I am incredibly grateful to the many organizations & dedicated, insightful people preserving our landscape, particularly in the Hudson Valley. - Marlene Wiedenbaum, PSA 2007
"Sacred Ground" is a growing collection of plein-air paintings scheduled for EXHIBITIONS in: June 2008 at the Pritzker Gallery in Highland; October 2008 at the Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining; April 2009 at the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, October 2009 at the Red Eft Gallery in Wurtsboro & September 2012 at the Palmer Gallery at Vassar College. In collaboration with preservation organizations, the project pays tribute to & supports land preservation & planned development while increasing the public's understanding of preservation.
